This was cool, for like a second: David Byrne’s “Tight Spot”

Last year, artist David Byrne managed to squish the whole world under New York’s High Line.  Working with challenges such as enduring the weather, creating a PG piece, making it inexpensive and temporary, and cleaning the area which he had described as “a dumping ground for car parts and junk,”  its main goal was to interact with the High Line.

While Byrne chose to go with a child’s map of the world, the kind you study in school, it’s tough not to make the clear connection between this inflatable world that’s about to pop and our current environmental crisis.  As NY Mag puts it, “An ecocrisis interpretation is more or less inevitable (a pale-blue planet swelling under pressure).”
